Join master weaver Sally Reihana for a hands-on introduction to the art of rāranga (traditional Māori weaving). Each workshop begins with an introduction to the tikanga of harakeke, how to harvest it respectfully, how to preparethe harakeke, and the responsibility we hold as weavers.

Following this introduction, you'll create your own handcrafted harakeke piece under Sally's expert guidance. Choose from three unique workshops:

Workshop One (1 hour):
Create either a Matariki star mobile or a bouquet of five putiputi (flowers).

Workshop Two (1 hour):
Make either a traditional Māori kite or a harakeke bracelet.

Workshop Three (2 hours):
Create either a konae (two-corner kete), a kono (four-corner kete), or a harakeke wall hanging.

All materials are provided, and no previous weaving experience is required. Leave with your own handcrafted creation, practical weaving skills, and a deeper appreciation for the tikanga and traditions of rāranga.
